Hiring Employees? Learn the basics of employment law
Tell me about your business and how you help women?
I represent management, including women business owners, in all aspects of the employer/employee relationship, including drafting Employee Handbooks, implementing policies and practices, guiding employers through hiring, discipline and termination, and defense of any claims or lawsuits that may arise.
What tip can you give women regarding your business/service/industry?
The women business owners I work with are quite savvy about all that comes with having employees. I encourage them to be proactive about preventative steps to minimize the risk of having employees, rather than having to do damage control after a claim or lawsuit is already filed.
What does being a Financially Wise Woman mean to you?
To me, a financially wise woman is aware and in charge of her present financial position, as well as where she wants to end up in the future. She is smart about her financial decisions, but still manages to take risks and have fun.
What was the best piece of money advice you were taught growing up or learned during your lifetime?
My parents were both teachers and very good about saving. We always had what we needed, but it was understood that you really didn’t need “things” to be happy. They now are both in their mid-60s and comfortably retired. That is a good goal to ultimately aim for.
