Create Your Accomplishment List and Celebrate!

As we approach the end of the year, it’s so critical that we take time out and actually acknowledge all that we’ve achieved. If you’re like me, chances are you’re already focusing on your 2013 goals and forgetting to celebrate how far you’ve come in 2012. That’s why I create an accomplishment list at the end of every year—and I encourage you to do the same.

You basically want to write down all of your accomplishments for the year, whether they be personal, professional or financial. Take time to think about everything. For example, one accomplishment that I almost forgot to include on my list was the fact that I practiced being less judgmental of myself. Another was that I joined a yoga studio. I also have on my list that I practiced mindful communication with friends and family. So really think about all the achievements you’ve had. Once you’ve completed your list, celebrate. Maybe pour yourself a glass of wine or treat yourself to a new pair of shoes you’ve been wanting. Whatever you decide to do, it’s important that you remember to acknowledge our growth during the year.

Also, once you write out your list, keep it somewhere where you can view it regularly on those days where you feel stuck or down. We all have those days, and reflecting back on your accomplishments can definitely help you change your mood and focus on positive thoughts again.

Hope this was helpful. Cheers to all of your accomplishments–now I’m off to celebrate myself!
