Who has time for all that?
As women we are natural nurturers. We’re wired to care for the needs of others, and by doing so we often neglect to take the time to take care of ourselves.
“But Brittney,” you might be thinking, “you don’t understand, I don’t have the time or the money to do all the things on the list above.”
I do understand, trust me. I’ve been in your shoes before. And now I’m here to tell you that this kind of thinking is all wrong. You cannot afford not to spend the time and/or money to take good care of yourself.
Think about it: If you neglect your well-being and happiness now, it can catch up with you later—and that neglect often will affect you financially.
You could end up spending more money on healthcare when you’re older because you didn’t eat healthy and work out (and healthcare is very expensive). Or you might get too stressed out at work to be able to do your job well, and therefore get fired or quit (loss of income).
The whole point is to remember that the small things we do every day to take good care of ourselves really do add up. And they have the power to enhance your financial future.
Not everything costs you money. And not everything will take a lot of your time.
Start today by making a short list of the things that make you really happy in life.
Then find one or two on the list that you’re not doing and find ways to add them into your life now. Budget, allocate time and make it happen.
You can do it—and your financial future is counting on it.

Spending time with Arya
I love taking morning walks with Arya, my dog. It’s one of my favorite times of the day because it allows me to breathe in fresh air (well, at least I pretend it’s fresh!) and get connected to nature. I love listening to the birds chirp as I walk and watching Arya sniff everything in sight. She reminds me to stay present in life and continue to be curious about everything I see.
I’m not a huge product girl, but I do treat myself to a few favorites that make me look and feel my best. Occasionally I try something new. I’m currently using this great shampoo and reconstructive conditioner on my hair called Christine, and I love it. Since I’m doing more TV and media work with my business these days, having healthy hair is important. To make it work financially, I made sure to review my budget to add this as another line item and cut out some expenses elsewhere so I could buy the product guilt-free.
Dancing Like Nobody’s Watching
I always, always, always play music. In fact, the first thing I do in the morning is choose my music playlist based on my mood for the day. Having music on makes my soul feel alive and allows me to have dance parties throughout my work day. Every day I remind myself that work is play, and I can choose to make my work just as fun as a vacation.
